Katie is the CEO of Flamingo Chicks and a passionate advocate for inclusion. She founded the charity in 2013 after discovering how few inclusive opportunities existed for her daughter, Poppy, who has cerebral palsy. The very first class had space for just 15 children, yet attracted 200 applications. Today, more than 60,000 children have danced with Flamingo Chicks.
With over 20 years’ experience, Katie brings bold entrepreneurial leadership and charity changemaking expertise to Flamingo Chicks. She has helped organisations work ethically and responsibly, including the United Nations, the Cabinet Office, and many others.
Katie’s impact has been widely recognised. Her awards include the Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award, a Point of Light Award from the Prime Minister, and inclusion in The Independent’s “Happy List” of people making the UK a better place. In the 2021 Honours List, Katie was awarded an MBE.
