Huge congratulations to our Founder Katherine Sparkes for receiving her MBE wearing a very special dress! The unique design featured hundreds of faces of our Flamingo Chicks (look closely at the bottom panel!) as well as a flamingo feather hat, also designed by our Agents of Change.
It was a magical snow-dusted day and Katie received the award with her family by her side.
Katie says “Recognition for my dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of disability inclusion would not have been possible without an immense number of people around me. A huge thank you to everyone who has believed in Flamingo Chicks, I am so very grateful to all the wonderful, kind and generous people over the years who have supported and encouraged us. Of course special mention must go to Poppy, the original Flamingo Chick and inspiration that all disabled children should enjoy the wonder of dance.”
